City rolling out fresh road markings in Hanover Park, Newfields, Sand Industria, Ferness Estate and Fairways Estate
01 April 2026
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate advises the public of planned road marking work along several roads within the suburbs of Hanover Park; Newfields; Sand Industria; Ferness Estate and Fairways Estate. The City commenced with the work today, 1 April, and if all goes according to plan the project should be complete by 5 June 2026.
The works have been planned between 07:00 and 17:00 from Monday to Friday and will include the repainting of existing road markings using retro-reflective paint as well as refreshing street names and kerb markings.
‘Residents and business owners in the Hanover Park, Newfields, Sand Industria, Ferness Estate and Fairways Estate areas are advised of road marking work that will take place along several roads in the area. This forms part of our efforts to improve visibility and enhance road safety for all users. No road closures are anticipated, however motorists are advised to exercise caution when travelling through the work areas. Residents may experience minor disruptions during working hours. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work hard to complete the project on time and ahead of the heavy rains in winter,’ said the City’s mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The project team has started in Newfields and will then move on to Fairways followed by Ferness Estate and Hanover Park. The team will conclude the project with a few roads in the Sand Industria area.
